What internal support is available for students?

[detail how students can access internal support, edit, add to and delete the below options as appropriate]

Designated support contacts

  • Student Wellbeing Services offers dedicated student support.
  • You can access a specialist in Mental Health, sexual or domestic violence.

Students’ Union Advice Service

  • Students’ Union staff are equipped to handle cases fairly and consistently and support you through making a report.

Access to counselling

  • All students can access counselling while at university.
  • Mental health services can also be accessed through your GP.

Mediation and restorative justice options

  • Where appropriate and safe, trained mediators are available to help resolve issues early. We do not recommend mediation for sexual misconduct.
  • Restorative practices to repair relationships, where appropriate and with the consent of the reporter.

Practical study adjustments

  • Measures can be put in place to support you in continuing to access your studies. For example, we may be able to make arrangements so that you don’t have to come into contact with someone you have reported, or assessment deadlines can be reviewed with your academic department. Practical study adjustments are decided on a case-by-case basis.

Regular communication and updates

  • When you report something with contact details, we’ll make sure you are kept informed about the progress of your case.
  • We’ll provide clear timelines and points of contact.

Follow-up and aftercare

  • We’ll check in after resolution to ensure you continue to feel safe and supported.
  • We are committed to monitoring the university climate to prevent recurrence. Anonymous reporting helps us to understand the harmful behaviours happening within the university culture and take proactive action against these behaviours.

Awareness and training

  • Regular training for all staff and students on bullying, harassment, and respectful behaviours.
  • We provide clear messaging that reinforces the university’s commitment to a safe culture.
